What Does Planet 12 Sound Like?

Planet 12 is a hard working, female fronted modern rock band with strong ties to several music scenes in Ohio. Songs are varied from dancable and upbeat, to heavy indie, to spacey shoegaze.

Press Reviews

"…Planet 12 plays literate tunes that start out deceptively simple. Then they climb to an electric crescendo, swept along by lead singer Jodi Toledo's alternatingly powerful and subtle vocals. On "Bathtub" she belts out the tune with Joan Jettian bravado, while on the hypnotic "Filter" she adeptly pulls it back about a dozen notches."
- Terry Smith, The Athens News

"…this female fronted quartet turns an agreeably rockin' performance on
Eclipsed, a six-song EP that splits the difference betwixt Sleater-Kinney's indie stylings and Pat Benatar's "Hit me with your best shot" bravado."
- Rob Harvilla, The Other Paper (Columbus, OH)

"The music is too melodic, and the vocals are too heartfelt to be dismissed as mindless drudge." - Chas J. Hartman, The Post (Athens, Ohio)

"An intense, hard-edged energy drives this band, even in the most melodic of their songs. Though ostensibly not punk rock, the minor chords and tight drumming -- and an impassioned female singer -- might fool you."
- Sarah Bardeen, Associate Editor - www.listen.com

Liner Notes

Planet 12 is a band that has matured infront of the eyes and ears of live audiences for the past 4 years. Originally quite pop-ladden, years of studio recording and live performance expereince--and just plain years of living--have molded the sound of Planet 12 into what it is today: emotional, provokative, catchy modern rock and roll.

Over the years, Planet 12 has managed to capture the ears of many fans. Most are drawn to the band by lead singer Jodi Toledo's unusually strong female lead vocals. Still others are attracted to the band by the brain-infecting angular guitar riffs of bassist and guitarist Matt Toledo, the in-your-face yet technically innovative drum work of Felix Alvis or mastery of melodic songwritting and tone exhibited by bassist and guitarist Chris Bair.

Planet 12 has played large venues, clubs, and closets. No matter where you see them, they allways give you their all.
